ABOUT ME
KRISTEN LIENHOP,
MSOT, OTR/L, SHSS
Occupational Therapist,
licensed in MO & KS
Senior Home Safety Specialist
in Kansas City
I have served the Kansas City Northland community as an Occupational Therapist for 27 years, both in hospitals and home care. This experience as well as my certification as a Senior Home Safety Specialist make me uniquely positioned as the expert in Kansas City for home safety assessments. I have expertise in home modification, adaptive equipment, and technology recommendations for seniors and adults, as well as families with children with disabilities. I am able to offer customized OT assessments and follow-up visits to establish targeted home programs for diagnosis specific deficits, age-related weakness and balance impairment, low vision modification, cognitive assessment and dementia related caregiver education, and/or home modification for families of children with disabilities.
Throughout my career I've seen people face unexpected challenges affecting their ability to live safely at home. Whether due to a sudden accident, like a fracture from falling, a worsening chronic health issue like Parkinson's Disease, or the effects of slowing down with age, many people are searching for solutions to remain safely in the their homes. Unfortunately, the current health care system often doesn't leave individuals or their caregivers equipped to thrive once they return home. Nor does it often promote, or pay for, services to address risks and prevent incidents at home before injury occurs, as preventative home safety measures are not considered "medically necessary." I am passionate about providing skilled assessments in order to create safe homes for all seniors in the KC area, and offer both Medicare and private pay options.
