Comprehensive Driving Evaluation & Planning
Americans today typically live 7–10 years beyond their ability to drive safely (AAA, 2021).
This means “driving retirement” is becoming an essential part of aging planning—just like financial or healthcare decisions. With the support of occupational therapy, you can prepare for the road ahead through education, screening, and strategies to stay safe while driving, as well as practicing alternative transportation options for when it’s time to stop driving.
Kristen, a Driving Rehabilitation Specialist, offers comprehensive driver evaluations that include detailed clinical assessment and on-road testing.
We come to you, completing clinical testing in your home and conducting the behind-the-wheel assessment in your familiar driving environment using our adapted vehicle.
Following the evaluation, you receive clear, objective outcomes and written recommendations, shared with your physician and family members to support informed decision-making regarding driving safety, rehabilitation, equipment needs, or driving retirement planning.
Private pay only (not covered by health insurance).
Occupational therapy–led driver rehabilitation is designed to restore safe, confident independence behind the wheel.
Following a comprehensive evaluation, we may recommend adaptive equipment such as steering devices, hand controls, left-foot accelerators, adaptive mirrors, or transfer aids when appropriate.
We guide you through the entire process — including coordination with equipment installers, prescription writing, navigating state licensing requirements and restrictions, and providing hands-on training in your own vehicle after installation — so you can return to driving safely and legally with confidence.
